Fleur de Lis Painted Decorations
I am currently going through a white phase, so I needed some new white pieces to include in my decor. In keeping with my French obsession I also wanted something related to France/French decorations. While at an antique market, I came across these wonderful fleur de lis finials and thought they would make great ornaments if I painted them. You can find finials at almost every antique or flea market for about $4/each.

Step #1: Clean finials with a scrubbing brush or sponge to remove any loose dirt and rust.

Step #2: Let dry for a few hours to make sure there is no moisture on the metal.
Step #3: Place finials on a large sheet of paper/new paper either outside or in a well ventilated area.

Step #4: Spray paint finials with a paint specifically intended for covering rust. (I used Tremclad Gloss White) You can find this paint at any Home Depot, Rona or other home store. Be sure the spray covers the whole finial covering all metal. Let dry and repeat spraying another time or until all rusty spots are covered. To get a more rustic look, leave some spots of rust peaking out through the paint.

I love how they turned out, looking glossy and new! This is very inexpensive way to create beautiful ornaments for your home!
