Germany’s Flower Maker

Traditional craft of Europe is something that will always fascinate me, and is why I originally came to France.  The atelier houses that have existed for hundreds of years are built around a sense of pride and history.  The traditional techniques that are still used today are a dying trade and something we must not take for granted.  More and more of these studios are closing their doors, so we must shed light on those that are still left standing.

Located in Germany, Deutsche Kunstblume Sebnitz is an artificial flower maker that takes pride in using age old techniques to create beautiful lifelike pieces.  One of the few flower makers left in the world, this studio employs 12 people and strives to keep the craft alive.  This short video shows the traditional techniques and workers from this company that are still creating beautiful silk flowers.
