Isabella Blow Fashion Galore!

If you happen to be in London in the next couple of months, be sure to head over to Somerset House and check out the Isabella Blow exhibit.  Isabella’s work and wardrobe are brought to life through this intimate look through her adventurous and sometimes tragic life.  Before her suicide in 2007, Blow was a regular of London’s emerging fashion community. She worked for both British and American Vogue, The Sunday TImes, and Tatler.  She is also credited with discovering designers Alexander McQueen, milliner Philip Treacy, Jeremy Scott, and Hussein Chalayan.

Blow, who came from a aristocratic background, was known as eccentric in the way she dressed, using clothing and accessories to modify and transform herself.  Co-curator of the exhibit, Shonagh Marshall recalls, “She had a great eye for silhouette, and her hats were almost a means of plastic surgery for her face, without going under the knife.”  “She said they can lift you, they can make you look different, and I think that was something that she really indulged in.”
